Grinning Gecko Cheese Co

We make the best soft white rind cheese in the country, having won the title at the NZ Champion of Cheese Awards both in 2015 and 2016, with our Brie. Our Kau Piro also won gold and was a finalist in the washed rind category at this year's awards.

We are a small award winning artisan cheese producer that sources top quality, export standard certified organic, milk from a local farm milking Ayrshire cows. Our cheese is made on the same day it is milked, and because we only use the milk from one herd we have total control over quality from beginning to end.

Our fresh certified organic milk is batch pasteurised, which is a very gentle method of pasteurisation, within two hours of leaving the cow. We believe the way we treat our milk throughout the process is reflected in the quality of our cheese. We use non-animal rennet and all our cheese is handmade and aged on site.
