Hogarth Craft Chocolate

Hogarth Craft Chocolate is handmade from bean to bar.

Selecting the worlds best cacao, we make fine single origin chocolate bars in the beautiful natural setting of Nelson. Our process focuses on preserving the natural flavour of cacao, and expressing it in chocolate. This means careful roasting, gentle grinding and ageing the chocolate for a few months to bring out beautiful fruit and spice flavours lost in modern chocolate making.

By using premium cacao and careful processing, a chocolate is created unlike any other. Natural fruit and spice flavours that exist in the cacao can be expressed and brought forward in the chocolate without using additives.

Cacao offers endless variety in flavours and sensations, it's an ingredient that has not been explored enough, and we think you'll love it.

New Products in Auckland 2016

Peru - Gran Blanco 66% Single Origin Bar

Made from Organic and Fair Trade cacao, this chocolate exhibits stone fruit (apricot) notes and honey/caramel sweetness. A perfect pairing for sweet dessert wine.


Madagascar - Akesson Estate 70% Single Origin Bar

Made from Organic and Directly traded cacao, this chocolate has starts with bright berry acidity which melts into warm raisin notes.


Venezuela - Carenero Superior 72% Single Origin Bar

Our Carenero Superior chocolate is complex, strong and dry on the palate with notes of coconut, cherry and sweet tobacco. Pairs well with Rosé.


Dominican Republic - Conacado 75% Single Origin Bar

Made from Fairtrade and Organic cacao, this chocolate is the darkest of our range. With a strong chocolate flavour enhanced by citrus and dark toffee notes. Rich, strong and dark, a perfect accompaniment for Pinot Noir.


Gianduia Dark Hazelnut Chocolate

Gianduia is an Italian chocolate made with hazelnuts and cacao. The resulting chocolate is smooth and creamy, easy melting with roasted hazelnut flavour. We make our Gianduia with Puerto Cabello (Venezuela) cacao and Nelson Hazelnuts.


Chef's Chocolate

We are offering our Madagascar, Dominican Republic and Peru single origin chocolates in a catering pack as 1kg tempered block.


European Style Drinking (sipping) Chocolate

We make a powdered drinking chocolate that is 100% pure chocolate. This is not a mix of cocoa powder, sugar and fillers like many other drinking chocolate products are. Our drinking chocolate is the very same chocolate we use in our bars, in powdered form. It makes a silky rich and dark sipping chocolate. Luxurious. Our drinking chocolate can be used in cooking, anywhere you would use a dark chocolate.
