Since 1982 the company has manually harvested wild Littleneck Clams/Tuangi/Tuaki (Austrovenus stutchburyi) from the cold waters of the Otago Coast, and researched the impact of its harvesting on habitats, refining its operations accordingly. Littleneck Clams have the sweet fresh flavour of the sea, and are naturally salty.

Southern Seaweeds was established in 2022 after six years of research and development by parent company Southern Clams. By harvesting in the cold clear waters of New Zealand’s South Island, we believe that we can produce some of the finest wild seaweed on the planet.
